The Medical Bureau of Lancaster was organized in 1949. The Bureau opened for business on June 20, 1949 with 154 Charter Members to provide the area’s medical community with an answering service and collection of past due debts.

We are owned and operated by The Lancaster City and Medical Society, The Lancaster Osteopathic Society and the Lancaster County Dental Society. We are governed by a Board of Directors elected from these three societies. Dr. Appleyard, whose plaque is on the front of our building, was one of the principal founding fathers.
